​Hi, I’m Anna. I’m a British artist, a mum, a military wife, and someone who has packed up her life and moved house more times than I care to count. At this point, I’m pretty sure I could assemble a flat-pack wardrobe purely by instinct.​ I was born and raised in Hertfordshire and graduated from Wimbledon School of Art, where I studied Theatre Design.

​Being a military family means that “home” has been a slightly fluid concept over the years. We’ve lived in different places, experienced different cultures, made new friends, said far too many goodbyes, and learned that moving house is an excellent way to discover just how much stuff you apparently own.

But somewhere along the way, all those moves taught me something rather unexpected…Just how ridiculously British I am.​ I didn’t fully appreciate it until I left the UK. Apparently, you can move me thousands of miles away, but I will still get disproportionately excited about a scone, have strong opinions about the weather and genuinely believe that beans on toast can solve most of life’s problems (it's got to be Heinz). In fact, the further I’ve travelled, the more I’ve realised how much the places I’ve lived—and the place I grew up—have shaped me.​ And I think that’s a big part of why I paint.

​I love places with a story. Architecture, landscapes, coastlines, landmarks, aircraft… the little details that make somewhere feel like somewhere. I love capturing not just what a place looks like, but a little of how it feels to be there.​ My work is colourful, illustrative and, hopefully, full of personality.  I mainly work in watercolour and acrylic, and I particularly love painting architecture, landscapes and aviation. Living in a military family has naturally found its way into my art too, with military aircraft featuring quite heavily in my work.​

When I’m not painting, I’m usually being a mum, attempting to keep some semblance of order in our house, drinking coffee, singing loudly and out of tune, or wondering where on earth I put that thing I definitely remember packing.​  Art has always been my constant through all the change. Through the moves, the new houses, the new places and the inevitable “Where are we living next?” conversations, painting has given me something that feels completely and unmistakably mine.
